CARP joins the national #GivingTuesday movement to encourage spending with a purpose. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire CARP’s community to take collaborative action to improve our community.
Taking place Nov. 29, 2016 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays dedicating to giving — similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.
CARP has been raising money to build Men’s and Women’s 12 Step homes, as well as fund the first year of operations. As CARP prepares for residents, the organization will be accepting donations of 12 Step literature (e.g., Big Book, 12 Steps & 12 Traditions) and everyday household items at the CARP office, 1626 Okeechobee Road, West Palm Beach, 33401 on Tuesday, Nov. 29th (10 AM – 2 PM). Items needed include: sealed (or unused) tissues, toilet tissue, paper towels, toothpaste, alcohol-free mouthwash, shampoo, brushes, combs, and other essential toiletries; and, hair dryers and/or hair styling instruments (no bedding or clothing at this time). CARP will also be accepting donations online to offer the gift of recovery to residents.
“The most meaningful gift that we can give our children, loved ones, friends and neighbors is the commitment to work together to help build a better world. We hope you’ll keep us in mind this giving season and remember that the holidays are about giving and creating a better world and community together,” said Kelly V. Landers, chairman of the board.
